Community Guidelines

BackcourtIQ is built for women's basketball fans. We want this to be a space where fans can watch together, talk about the game, and celebrate the sport without the noise and hostility that ruins most sports communities online.
These guidelines apply to everything you post or say on BackcourtIQ — community posts, comments, and live game chat. They're meant to be short and readable, not a wall of legalese. If something feels wrong to post, it probably is.
The Rules
🏀 Be respectful.
Disagree with takes, not with people. No harassment, personal attacks, slurs, or hate speech of any kind. BackcourtIQ should feel welcoming — especially to women, LGBTQ+ fans, and the players and coaches we're here to celebrate. We have zero tolerance for content that targets someone's gender, race, sexuality, religion, or any other personal characteristic.
📣 No spam.
Don't flood the chat or community feed with repetitive messages, mass-mentions, or promotional content. One good post beats ten mediocre ones. If you want to promote something, reach out to us directly.
🏆 Stay on topic.
We're here for women's basketball — games, players, teams, news, and culture. Keep it there. This isn't the place for unrelated political debates, personal drama, or content that has nothing to do with the sport.
🚫 No illegal content.
No threats of any kind. No sharing private information about other people (doxxing). No posting copyrighted content (game broadcasts, music, articles) without permission. No content that facilitates any illegal activity.
🎭 No impersonation.
Don't pretend to be a player, coach, team account, or another user. This includes usernames, profile information, and how you present yourself in chat and posts.
🔒 Respect privacy.
Don't share screenshots of private messages without consent. Don't reveal personal information about other users. Don't out anyone. What happens in DMs stays in DMs.
What Happens If You Break the Rules
We use a graduated response based on severity. One bad moment shouldn't define your account. Patterns of bad behavior will.
- First violation — Warning or post removal: we'll remove the content and let you know what rule was violated.
- Repeated violations — Temporary suspension: your account will be suspended for a period depending on severity.
- Severe violations — Permanent ban: threats, doxxing, hate speech, and illegal content result in an immediate permanent ban with no warning required.
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you can appeal by emailing contact@backcourtiq.com within 30 days. We'll review it in good faith.
A Note on Live Game Chat
Game chat moves fast. We know emotions run high during close games. That's what makes it fun. We're not here to police every strong opinion about a referee call.
But the rules still apply in chat. Harassment doesn't get a pass because a game is on. Chat messages are also ephemeral — they're automatically deleted one hour after the game ends — so the chat is meant for in-the-moment conversation, not a permanent record.
If you see something that violates these guidelines, flag it. Our moderation team reviews flagged content and takes action.
How to Report a Violation
Every post and chat message has a flag option. Use it if you see something that shouldn't be there. We review all flagged content.
